Free Integrated Local Backup |
|
Online backup is invaluable but simply is not designed to
protect your entire computer. Using VOS’s local backup
system, you can backup your entire computer, open/locked
and operating system files to any local medium whether it is
an external USB drive, a local network location, a USB stick
or an iPod.

Powerful Recovery |

VOS keeps an unlimited version history of all your files –
allowing you to roll back to any version of any of your files.
Use our time machine feature to go back to the date you
want to restore your backup and recover that snapshot of

Physical Media Upload |
|
Chances are you have at least 20 to 30 GB of data to
backup. Over the wire, that can literally take weeks. VOS’s
exclusive PMU technology lets you “seed” your backup
by sending your encrypted data on a DVD. Alternatively
we can send you a hard disk overnight and you can copy
your backup to that disk. After that, just the binary that are
changed will be transferred, meaning your daily backup
takes just minutes.

VOS lets you backup as many computers as you like using
one account. Over 60% of households have more than one
computer and VOS allows you to protect and recover from
all of your machines unlike our competitors. Backup your

Enhanced Security & Privacy |
|
VOS features 3-tiered encryption for your data beginning with a 256-
bit AES before transfer over a 128-bit SSL tunnel only to be further
protected with a 1024-bit AES once the backup is stored. Most of our
competitors will encrypt your files once, before or after transfer. We
do not simply save copies in the same location, we send a copy of
your data to a completely different data center - all 6 of which are
Tier III & IV rated (provided 99.995% availability - less than 1⁄2 hour
per year downtime).
Users can also opt to use VOS UltraSafeTM which means that not
even the VOS’s engineers can view the data stored on the VOS
servers. Only the user who put it there can ever access the data.
This stands in contrast to most other online backup systems, where
data is neither encrypted on your client, nor stored as encrypted
data so as to prevent employees of the software vendor from
accessing stored data.

Enterprise Compression & Transfer Systems |

The VOS compression system only backs up changed files and then only the changed 1’s and 0’s are transferred. On a
500 MB database (MYOB/Intuit/Turbo Tax) the daily transfer
can be as small as 5 KB. Our transfer system is enterprise
grade, meaning that large file transfers are resumed at the
KB of interruption, and do not start at the beginning like
most online backup systems.

Unlimited Versioning & Archiving |
|
Unlike other online backup systems, we do not delete the file
from your backup just because you delete the file from your
computer. Other companies call this “archiving” and refuse
to do it. If you delete your local file, they remove it from your
online backup storage. We call it “proper backup”. Over 80%
of data loss occurs due to accidental deletion. With VOS you
can be rest assured that we keep every version of every file
forever, until you tell us to remove it.

To help you backup precisely what you want to, tell VOS
Online Backup to watch your My Documents folder but to
ignore all *.mp3’s and *.avi’s. Alternatively you can tell VOS
to only protect *.doc, and *.xls. Either use our pre-sets or set
your own inclusion/exclusion mask.
